Every time I start a new adventure, I promise myself that I will start some sort of a blog so friends and family can stay caught up on where I am and what I am doing. Well, sitting in an airport all night waiting for a flight to Costa Rica has given me the time to set up an informal blog that will hopefully educate, as well as entertain. You can read more about me in the "About" section, but here is the short version: I am a teacher from Canada who is headed to Costa Rica to earn a TEFL certification rather than wait in my hometown for the possibility of getting on a supply list with the local Board of Education. Many people are patient and willing to wait years for the opportunity of getting a full-time teaching contract in my city. However, "patient" is not one of the words that most people would use to describe me. I love teaching and traveling, so training to teach English as a second language all over the world seems like a good match for me. I am extremely excited to experience Costa Rica, and as soon as I land and get settled in with my host family, I will post more details, as well as pictures.
I won't be posting every little detail about my life, because quite frankly, I intend to spend most of my time living rather than blogging. However, I will be focusing on sharing inspiring lessons learned as I teach and travel, as well as spreading the word about all the awesome people I meet who are doing amazing work in the field of gender equality and human rights. This is a blog that will focus on sharing my passions, not a diary of daily life. So if you don't see a new post in a little while, please don't judge. It just means I am probably sailing through a rainforest on a zipline, or swimming in the ocean. I'll talk to you soon.
