**Please note that I wrote this at the end of September, but it has taken me a while to get my blog designed and published. Now it is here for you to enjoy.**
So I read a couple interesting stories about synchronistic events, magic and miracles, etc. over the past couple of days. Then today one of these events happened to me. I had been feeling a bit overwhelmed with the amount of resources and materials in my classroom, with more stuff being given to me by the day. I am grateful for everything, because it's all very useful, but my room is really small and I had no place to put anything. I was just getting things and throwing them in random places (which of course makes me feel crazy, lol). Then this morning I was talking to one of the other teachers about the math lessons we are doing together tomorrow and she told me there were a lot of supplies downstairs (i.e. glitter, notebooks, pipe cleaners, etc.) and that “Marwan” had the key. Being new to the school, I didn't know about these rooms, and I had no clue who Marwan was, so we went downstairs together. He was in a meeting, so we popped in to the room next door to his, which used to be a Language Support room for Kindergarten (but now it's used as a storage room).
When Christine and I walked in, we both went "oh my goodness". There were four big cabinets, plus a couple smaller locked filing cabinets (she works with a lot of confidential information, so she really wanted a locked filing cabinet). We both said it would be great if we could actually use some of the things in this storage room because right now it's all just sitting there, not being used. So Christine emailed the man in charge (I don't know his actual title) and she got an email back a little while later saying "the supplies should be kept in the room where they are". So as I was walking down the hall back to my office, I thought "well, wouldn't it be nice to have that filing cabinet anyway - it's going to be interesting to see how this works out." I didn't get upset or disappointed or anything. I also spent a few seconds seeing the cabinet in my room and feeling good about how organized I would soon be (and how good that would feel, too). Then I let it go and didn't really think about it anymore. After school, I was met by the "man in charge" and he said, "We are bringing you a cabinet. Where do you want it?" I had this big grin on my face. I found out later Christine had emailed him back and respectfully requested he reconsider (due to the sensitive nature of her files) and I ended up getting blessed as well. Plus, one of the grade one teachers (who was grade one Language Support for two years before taking over the homeroom class this year) said, "It took you two weeks to get what I never got in two years."
Oh, and I also got paid today. That felt good, too, but honestly, I think I was happier with my new cabinet.
